UFO Museum

Leaving Crosbyton, we stopped at a Tractor Supply in Lubbock, Texas, to fill up our propane tank, as the temperature had dropped and the temperatures in the next week or so would require us to use the furnace in the RV, which works off of propane.  This time, our drive to our next one-night stop was approximately 3.5 hours.  We didn’t want to stop for gas because we were trying to get to Roswell, New Mexico, as soon as possible before the International UFO Museum and Research Center closed.  We arrived in plenty of time, but had some difficulty finding a spot to park the RV as close as possible to the UFO Museum.  We circled about a 10-block radius several times before we decided on a side street a few blocks away from the UFO Museum.

We still had ample time before the museum closed, so we decided to have lunch in downtown Roswell.  We found a Mexican restaurant called El Toro Bravo next door to the museum.  Tim had chicken fajitas and Pat had enchiladas rancheras.

After lunch, we walked over to the UFO Museum.  The museum had newspaper clippings, videos of interviews, and a timeline of events related to the incident that occurred in 1947 when multiple people stated that they saw a crashed UFO with three aliens on board.  The museum also had information about other UFO sightings across the country.  It was actually quite fascinating.
We even found a Blanchard in the mix...

After touring the UFO Museum, we headed to our campground for the evening: Red Barn RV Park.  Since we were only there for the night and would only be spending one night on our next stop, we decided to spend the afternoon doing laundry and resting up for our travels.  Pat had a long conversation with the manager and owner of the RV Park, who was very friendly.  She explained that she had owned the RV Park for a few years and had bought it when it was in disrepair.  She wanted to renovate the RV Park and remove the long-term campers so it would be available to travelers.  Indeed, the RV Park was full on the night we were there.

Our RV site was made of dirt and a little close to our neighbors, but we loved how the RV Park was so quaint and the owner so friendly.  The Red Barn RV Park has approximately 20 RV sites with full hook ups.  You cannot book online; you must call the park office to make a reservation.  Amenities include a small store with ice, drinks, and snacks; small game room; restroom/shower facility; and a laundry facility.

It is located off of U.S. Highway 380, so there is some street noise.  It is only a 5-minute car ride (15-minute bike ride) to the UFO Museum, and there are numerous restaurants and bars located around the museum.  The owner also pointed out other places to visit nearby, including other museums and a zoo.  We would definitely consider staying at the Red Barn RV Parkk again if we were in the area.
